"Your mental health is everything – prioritize it. Make the time like your life depends on it, because it does." — Mel Robbins
At Delhi Public School, Coimbatore, the observance of World Mental Health Day 2025 was marked with a series of thoughtful activities and discussions aimed at fostering emotional awareness, empathy, and resilience among students, which was carried out from 7.10.25 to 17.10.25. The theme for this year, “Access to Services – Mental Health in Catastrophes and Emergencies,” emphasizes the urgent need to ensure that mental health care is accessible to all, especially in times of crisis. Through this observance, the school aimed to encourage open conversations, break stigmas, and promote a culture where seeking help and supporting one another is seen as a strength.
Assembly presentation by Teachers (7.10.25):
On 7.10.25 (Tuesday), the assemblies were conducted by teachers across all classes to promote mindfulness and emotional well-being. Classes I to II students practiced breathing exercises, explored emotions through role play, and shared positive affirmations, followed by creative reflections in their scrap files. Classes III–V participated in meditation, a skit titled “Happy Minds, Safe Lives,” emphasizing safe habits and positive choices. For classes VI-XII, assembly focused on the theme “Mental Health” with activities like Peace in Silence-mindful meditation, reflections, myth-busting discussions, poetry and candid commentary. Students also shared affirmations promoting self-care and positivity. The Head of School emphasised the importance of mental health and encouraged students across all the classes to have positive thoughts and build resilience.
Circle Time: Understanding Emotions
During circle time, the children of Pre-Nursery participated in an interactive discussion about different emotions. Through simple conversations, they shared how they felt while playing and how their feelings changed if someone accidentally pushed them. To help them manage emotions, the children were introduced to deep breathing exercises, learning how to calm themselves when upset. They also practised using polite words like “sorry,” “thank you,” and “please” in everyday situations. A short story on anger was narrated, helping the children understand the feeling and the importance of responding gently. The session encouraged self-awareness, empathy, and positive expression of emotions in a fun and age-appropriate way.

Art as a therapy:
In connection with World Mental Health Day, students of Classes VI and V participated in a Mandala Art activity during their art period in the second week of October. The session promoted mindfulness, focus, and emotional balance as students created unique mandalas using geometric shapes, patterns, and soothing colors. The calm classroom atmosphere reflected their relaxation and creativity. Through this activity, students discovered how art can be a form of meditation and stress relief, highlighting the connection between creativity and mental wellness. It was a meaningful and engaging way to celebrate the importance of a peaceful, healthy mind.
Art is a voice-Anti-Bully campaign:
Students of Classes 9 and 10 participated in a poster-making activity which encouraged them to express their thoughts and stand against bullying through creative artwork and powerful messages. Each poster reflected themes of kindness, empathy, and respect, promoting a safe and supportive school environment. The activity not only showcased students’ artistic talents but also strengthened awareness about the importance of compassion and standing up against bullying.

SLP Activities:
Between October 8 and 17, 2025, the SLP teachers of classes 6 to 11 facilitated engaging discussions on mental health through a series of interactive activities. Students were encouraged to choose their preferred mode of expression to share and reflect on their thoughts, promoting self-awareness and open dialogue about mental health.
Students participated in an outdoor art activity where they collected natural materials such as dried leaves, flowers, and grass from the lawn area. Using these elements, they created beautiful patterns and designs, working either individually or collaboratively in groups. The activity encouraged creativity, teamwork, and appreciation for nature.
Students also took part in a Mandala art-making activity and shared their reflections on the experience. They expressed that the process helped them focus on a single thought, reduce stress, and enhance concentration. Overall, the activity provided a calming and mindful experience that supported their emotional well-being.
Few students also created posters and comic strips addressing the issues of body shaming and bullying. Through their work, they effectively conveyed their understanding of how to prevent such behaviors. The clarity and depth of their ideas were evident in the submissions, and the discussions that followed fostered a safe and open environment for future conversations on these important topics.
Mental Health Day- Skit by students:
On World Mental Health Day, 10th October, Class XI Psychology students presented a skit titled “The Silent Case,” which combined elements of mystery with an important message about mental well-being. In the performance, a detective—later revealed to be a psychologist—uncovered clues highlighting the struggles faced by teachers, students, and support staff. The skit effectively emphasized the importance of reaching out, offering support, and fostering open communication as key strategies for ensuring mental health within the school community and in everyday life.
PA System Announcement:
On October 10, 2025, three Class XII Psychology students shared the significance of World Mental Health Day and offered practical tips for maintaining mental well-being through the PA system during the last five minutes of the school day.
Book Corner:
The school library organized a week-long event on Mental Health, Personality Development, and Well-being through a specially curated Book Corner featured titles on mental health awareness, moral stories, personality development, psychology, and emotional intelligence. The Student Expression Corner encouraged students to write positive messages and share what makes them feel happy or mentally strong. These heartfelt notes were beautifully displayed, transforming the library into a vibrant space of encouragement and emotional connection.
Mental Health Video screening:
During the week of awareness, a short, age-appropriate video on mental wellness was screened for students in the AV Room. The video helped initiate conversations around topics like self-care, emotions, stress management, and seeking help when needed. After the screening, informal discussions were encouraged to allow students to reflect on what they learned.
Overall, through these activities, the school continues to take meaningful steps toward raising awareness about mental health, moving forward with the confidence to empower young minds and foster greater emotional resilience.
