When nature falls silent, art becomes her voice.
When people journey in search of hope, art carries their stories.
Jashn-e-Bachpan, the much-anticipated Annual Day Celebration of Delhi Public School, Coimbatore, was held on 29 November 2025 for the students of Classes VI to IX in the open-air amphitheatre that stood resplendent amidst the green expanse of the school grounds. The morning air carried a quiet expectancy as parents, grandparents, and well-wishers gathered to witness a vibrant celebration of learning, talent, imagination, and youthful creativity.

The essence of the theme, “Art Is a Voice,” was beautifully captured in the art installations that adorned the venue. The school grounds were enlivened by a series of striking displays crafted entirely from discarded tyres, cans, newspapers, and scrap materials. These imaginative creations—ranging from playful garden sculptures to symbolic “Zero Waste” models—echoed the school’s environmental vision, transforming waste into works of art that celebrated sustainability, creativity, and responsible living.
The programme began with the soulful rendition of the Takshila Gaan, the school anthem that embodies the ideals of unity, progress, and global citizenship. Its stirring notes set the tone for a day grounded in values and uplifted by artistic expression. A graceful Classical Dance performance followed, where the young dancers invoked the spirit of India’s timeless cultural heritage through rhythm, devotion, and elegance.
The highlight of the presentation for Classes VI and VII was a grand theatrical production that gave voice to the sacred rivers of India. Through episodes drawn from mythology, history, and contemporary environmental concerns, the narrative unfolded like a flowing river - from the divine descent of the Ganga to the sobering reality of today’s polluted waterways.
As the story progressed, the audience witnessed how rivers that once symbolised purity and spiritual abundance now bear the burden of human negligence. Through expressive performances, students reminded viewers of the moral responsibility each generation holds towards preserving these life-giving water bodies.
The presentation stood out for its live singing, imaginative choreography, and evocative stage design. Students effortlessly transitioned from narration to dance, from song to dialogue, embodying both the beauty and the plight of India’s rivers with striking maturity.

The second segment of the celebration showcased performance by Classes VIII and IX, centred on one of humanity’s oldest and most enduring themes: Migration. The dramatic presentation traced the stories of people who moved across landscapes and centuries—prehistoric wanderers in search of food and safety; merchant caravans crossing deserts; families displaced by conflict; those torn apart during the Partition of 1947; and modern migrants seeking dignity, opportunity, or refuge.
Through synchronised movement, evocative music, and powerful dialogues, the students portrayed the sorrow, courage, and unbroken resilience that accompany every journey into the unknown. The performance highlighted how migration is not merely relocation but reinvention; how every departure carries with it a dream, and every arrival holds the promise of a new beginning.
As with every DPS Coimbatore production, the students themselves anchored the programme, presented the activity report, and managed transitions with poise and clarity. Their teamwork, confidence, and involvement transformed the stage into a vibrant learning space.
Both performances were the culmination of weeks of preparation, thoughtful guidance from teachers, the unwavering support and direction of the Head of School and wholehearted student participation. The result was a celebration that offered not only entertainment but also deep learning—nurturing empathy, values, perspective, and environmental and social awareness.
In her address, the Academic Advisor, Dr Seema Malik, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the parent community for their unwavering support and reiterated the school’s commitment to nurturing well-rounded individuals, rooted in values, sharpened in intellect and guided by compassion and global awareness.
The programme concluded with warm applause and heartfelt appreciation from the audience, followed by the National Anthem, bringing the memorable event to an evocative close.
